About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support negotiation of collective bargaining agreements by developing negotiation strategies and preparing proposals
- Support litigation, arbitration, and legal proceedings involving grievances, unfair labor practice charges, the NLRA, and organized activity
- Advise internal business partners on labor strategy, evolving labor law, and collective bargaining agreements
- Highlight legal risk and recommend proactive, solution-oriented strategies with measurable outcomes
- Provide legal advice on labor relations training, education, and communication
- Advocate for inclusive, collaborative, and supportive workplace strategies
- Partner with labor lawyers, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Communications, and other internal business partners
- Develop long-term strategies to improve labor and employee relations and increase employee engagement
- Work with Microsoft’s labor team as an extended member of the WEBS legal team
- Attend team meetings and report on a dotted-line basis to Microsoft’s lead labor attorney
- Respond to requests from business and legal teams
- Travel for labor negotiations, team events, and other events as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor degree or international equivalent degree, or equivalent experience
- 6+ years’ experience as a practicing attorney specializing in labor law
- Experience with collective bargaining, organizing activity, agency hearings, and labor arbitration
- Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction
- Capability to meet admission requirements in a relevant jurisdiction
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently to Blizzard’s Irvine campus and other locations as needed
- Extensive experience and knowledge drafting, negotiating, and interpreting collective bargaining agreements preferred
- Software technology or entertainment industry experience preferred
- Sound judgment incorporating legal analysis, pragmatism, business goals, risk tolerance, and stakeholder priorities
- Project management skills and ability to meet deadlines amid competing priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to independently handle multiple diverse projects simultaneously under deadlines
- Strong ethics, collaboration, and influencing skills
