About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for all internal workmanship performed on the fiber infrastructure of WorldNet.
- Ensure all policies, procedures, quality work standards meet expectations.
- Lead day-to-day activities of the field personnel assigned.
- Assist the Planning engineers and specialists with duties as assigned.
- Assign daily tasks to WorldNet fiber technicians.
- Ensure they comply with company policies, such as code of conduct, IT security, etc.
- Monitor their compliance with safety procedures, including OSHA and NESC standards.
- Conduct on-call duty for fiber repairs and restoration.
- Occasionally inspect contractor labor on OSP infrastructure.
- Work with and lead contractors, prepare detailed work prints, write Job Cost estimates, and craft a bill of materials (BOM) for aerial and underground projects.
- Provide recommendations to Planning engineers and/or specialists to improve OSP conditions.
- Provide necessary reports, such as budgetary and weekly production reports.
- Ensure field technicians have necessary training, tools, and materials to perform their duties to the highest quality.
- Conduct routine inspections of assigned technician vehicles to ensure compliance with company policies, security, safety regulations, preventive maintenance schedules, cleanliness standards, and readiness for daily operational activities.
- Responsible for marking WorldNet’s Network Plant by Government Agency (Centro de Excavaciones) procedure request.
- Responsible for caring for and maintaining the assigned company vehicle as well as the field technician’s vehicle.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate Degree or equivalent experience in the Telecommunications field is desirable.
- Candidate must have prior hands-on experience working as a Fiber Splicer or Fiber Technician.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in fiber optic network construction, splicing, testing, maintenance, and restoration activities is required, including at least 2 years of experience supervising or leading field personnel.
- Ability to express written (and verbally) organized thoughts with clarity and a high standard of grammar and language.
- Fully Bilingual (Spanish - English).
- Ability to understand and apply mathematical concepts such as, but not limited to, payback period, total cost of ownership, average values, gross margin.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Project and VISIO).
