About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define the multi-year data platform architecture vision and roadmap
  • Present tradeoffs and sequencing to DnA and engineering leadership
  • Serve as technical decision-maker for platform-wide architectural choices, technology evaluation, and cross-domain standards
  • Evaluate and pilot emerging data platform technologies, run POCs, and develop architectural recommendations
  • Drive alignment across Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, AI/ML Platform, Security, and Data Ops
  • Mentor data and analytics engineers, define engineering standards, review designs and PRs, and grow platform competency
  • Define and maintain Snowflake platform standards, including naming, schema/database layout, warehouse tiers, role hierarchy, and promotion patterns
  • Own the RBAC permission model, service-user provisioning, access patterns, and least-privilege controls
  • Design and evolve dbt Mesh and data mesh boundaries across business domains
  • Configure and operate Snowflake account infrastructure, including warehouses, resource monitors, query tags, replication, account parameters, Iceberg, External Access Integration, and compute pools
  • Own Atlan integration for enterprise data cataloging, lineage, and metadata lakehouse governance
  • Define integration standards for Airflow, Fivetran, data sharing, and ELT tooling
  • Design Snowflake data architecture for AI/agentic workflows and LLM pipelines
  • Build and operate MCP server infrastructure exposing Snowflake data to AI agents and LLM workflows
  • Own the analytical agent evaluation framework and automated testing
  • Partner with GRC and Security on FedRAMP controls, data sanitization, masking, and security reviews
  • Drive query-tag attribution, warehouse sizing strategy, and showback alignment
  • Enable BI, business/AI applications, analyst, and developer data consumption through Snowflake connectivity and performance tuning
  • Define standards for reverse-ETL and operational workloads, delegating execution to domain teams within guardrails

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 8+ years in data or platform engineering
  • 3+ years owning Snowflake account/platform operations at enterprise scale
  • Demonstrated architectural judgment balancing standardization, domain autonomy, cost, security, performance, and buy/build/adopt decisions at enterprise scale
  • Technical RBAC model design and service-user provisioning
  • SSO/Okta integration for Snowflake
  • Semantic layer design on Snowflake
  • MCP server or equivalent AI data gateway infrastructure for LLM-powered workflows
  • Analytical agent evaluation frameworks
  • Data governance, including row/column masking, secure views, Atlan cataloging, and FedRAMP/SOX compliance-boundary design
  • Advanced SQL query design and tuning in Snowflake
  • AWS data services, including S3, IAM, and Secrets Manager
  • Python or scripting for platform automation and provisioning
  • dbt Core or Cloud and dbt Mesh or multi-project data mesh patterns
  • BI/analytics tools such as QuickSight, Omni, Sigma, or Tableau
  • Orchestration/ingestion tools such as Airflow, Fivetran, or Workato
  • Performance and cost optimization using warehouse tuning, query analysis, resource monitors, and query tags
  • Agile/Sprint environment experience
  • Excellent verbal/written communication
  • Ability to translate platform strategy for business, technical, and executive audiences
  • Ability to influence technical direction and drive alignment without direct authority
  • Strong planning and prioritization
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving decisions with incomplete information
  • Experience leading or contributing to cross-functional initiatives
  • SaaS or subscription-based business experience
  • Track record scaling enterprise data platforms across multiple business domains
  • Reliable internet access for remote working opportunities
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis
  • SnowPro certification is preferred, not required
