About the role

Spearhead strategic vision for advancing Machine Learning (ML) solutions and MLOps excellence
Shape the strategic ML roadmap and guide leadership on ML strategies
Architect scalable cloud systems with strong observability and maintain ML infrastructure
Lead adoption of new ML methodologies, mentor engineers, and establish team standards
Guide a team building Workiva’s Generative AI platform and empower product teams
Collaborate with product, data, and architecture teams to integrate ML solutions via APIs and design end-to-end products
Manage backlog, forecast timelines, and resolve interdependencies to ensure timely delivery
Host and monitor ML models, develop automated tests, and support production troubleshooting (including on-call)
Conduct code reviews, ensure solution quality, and communicate technical issues to diverse stakeholders

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Minimum 8 years of ML engineering experience
Technical leadership experience in ML initiatives and full ML lifecycle
Experience designing and overseeing scalable, highly available ML/MLOps solutions
Experience with Generative AI and agentic frameworks (preferred)
Deep knowledge of computer science, distributed cloud systems, and databases
Proficiency in Python, Go, Java (or similar)
Experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices
Strong cross-functional communication skills
Experience anticipating and resolving system-level challenges and production troubleshooting
Willingness to participate in on-call support and minimal (<10%) travel
Completion of security and privacy training (required for employees)
