About the role

  • Lead a 50+ team of designers, researchers, and content designers; centralized UX supporting all products to ensure a consistent, coherent experience
  • Set strategic vision and goals for UX Directors and Managers; translate business context and goals into a UX action plan
  • Translate company strategy into operational goals and metrics to align and motivate team performance
  • Align with other teams to analyze, monitor, forecast, and prioritize initiatives according to organizational priorities
  • Scale team processes to foster operational excellence in UX, including use of leading AI-tools
  • Build a sustainable organization by attracting, developing, and rewarding exceptional talent
  • Coach design leaders on leadership, decision-making, people management, and communication; provide constructive feedback and leadership development opportunities
  • Model and promote Servant Leadership qualities and an atmosphere of respect, continuous learning, and commitment to business goals
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers, business unit leaders, and senior management to raise UX visibility and ensure collaboration
  • Work with design leaders to establish guidelines, principles, and standards for design alignment across teams
  • Partner with the Research Director to establish a comprehensive research strategy and ensure insights inform design decisions
  • Ensure alignment in approach and effective communication across product teams

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive relevant experience in user experience, with strong case studies demonstrating measurable impacts, preferably in B2B software development or other related technology areas
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience in design management
  • A B.A. or B.S. degree in human-computer interaction, psychology, computer science or software engineering preferred; advanced degrees (MA, PhD, MBA) desirable
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, frameworks and methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience applying UCD principles to real-world problems rooted in user insights
  • Solid understanding of B2B research methodologies
  • Experience building and scaling design organizations beyond 50+ individuals
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data/analytics to inform design decisions
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to recruit, retain, and nurture a culture of excellence and healthy team relationships
  • Strong customer orientation and problem-solving skills
  • Availability for 25-30% travel
  • Reliable internet access for remote work
