About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evaluate and assess the potential impairment of financial assets
  • Ensure that the bank's financial statements accurately reflect the economic value of its assets
  • Identification of potential impairment triggers
  • Analysis of relevant financial and non-financial information to assess the potential for impairment of financial assets
  • Application of quantitative and qualitative impairment tests to determine whether an asset is considered impaired
  • Assessment of the impairment loss for an asset by identification of the right valuation method
  • Documentation of the process
  • Calculation of the impairment provision to reflect the impairment loss and prepare clear and accurate impairment disclosures for financial statements
  • Management of the performance of impaired assets and reassessment of their impairment status on a regular basis

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to deal with complex problems/issues, hypothesis testing via data analysis
  • High level of proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Impairment provisioning standards (i.e. IFRS9)
  • Forecasting and risk modelling technique knowledge
  • Portfolio risk management knowledge including full credit risk lifecycle and it’s impacts on the drivers of impairment
  • Team working and stakeholder management across all levels
  • Documentation of existing processes and models to a required standard as defined by the internal & external auditors and other governance bodies
  • Ability to translate from a technical aspect to a non-technical audience
