About the role
- Analyze user requirements, concepts of operations, and high-level architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
- Lead and support system design, development, and integration activities across the system lifecycle.
- Guide stakeholders in requirements development, feasibility analysis, and alternative technical approaches.
- Provide technical leadership to ensure alignment between requirements, architecture, design, and implementation.
- Develop and maintain system architecture, system design, and technical documentation.
- Support system engineering planning activities, including Systems Engineering Management Plans and Integration and Test Plans.
- Interact directly with government stakeholders regarding technical considerations, risks, and issue resolution.
- Maintain responsibility for the technical integrity of assigned systems and associated deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews, configuration control boards, program reviews, and test readiness activities.
- Contribute to risk management efforts, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation planning.
- Support system baseline management and controlled change processes across development and operations.
Requirements
- Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Systems Engineer supporting programs of similar scope, complexity, and mission impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related field.
- Five (5) additional years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Three (3) years of experience supporting Intelligence Community privacy compliance (legal or technical aspects).
- Two (2) years of experience working with customer specific systems architecture.
- Experience managing system and derived requirements within established architectures (e.g., DoDAF, SOA).
- Ability to contribute to and review key systems engineering artifacts, including: Systems Engineering Plans, Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Capabilities and architecture documentation.
- Experience allocating system functions to hardware, software, personnel, and facilities.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve technical action items.
- Experience participating in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Knowledge of verification and validation planning, including defining evaluation criteria and test approaches.
- Experience supporting certification and accreditation activities (e.g., DoD, IC C&A processes).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including briefing senior technical and government personnel.
