About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate the initiation and continuation of biologic therapies.
- Manage the workflow from the provider’s order through medication approval, delivery, and ongoing treatment support.
- Prepare, submit, and track prior authorizations, appeals, and supporting insurance documentation.
- Follow up with insurance companies and proactively resolve authorization delays or treatment barriers.
- Coordinate prescriptions and medication delivery with specialty pharmacies.
- Assist patients with enrollment in manufacturer assistance and medication access programs.
- Educate patients about approval timelines, specialty pharmacy requirements, and next steps.
- Maintain accurate patient records and authorization updates in the EMR.
- Collaborate with providers, nurses, pharmacies, insurers, and other clinical staff to support continuity of care.
- Prepare and maintain biologic medication records, status reports, and tracking systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 1 year of previous experience handling medication prior authorizations is required
- Experience with biologic medications, specialty pharmacies, or infusion therapies is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working in a medical office or specialty practice.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential (CMA/RMA) is preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and other healthcare-related software.
- Strong understanding of insurance documentation and authorization processes.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must speak and write English clearly and professionally.
- Must have relevant work experience.
- Must be able to provide an NBI Clearance and/or Local Police Clearance before onboarding (mandatory).
- Must be available to attend video meetings with camera on when required.
- Computer: Reliable laptop or desktop computer.
- Internet: Stable high-speed internet connection (minimum 25 Mbps).
- Audio: Noise-canceling headset.
- Video: Working webcam for virtual meetings.
- Workspace: Quiet and professional work environment.
