About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide competent Environment, Health and Safety (HSE) support across all Bute Energy Ltd activities
- Advise and support project teams from early concept through construction and handover
- Lead project HSE reviews, including HazIDs, HazCONs, HazOPs and SIMOPs
- Support BEL in fulfilling client duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
- Work with Principal Designers and Principal Contractors, including oversight of design risk assessments and design logs
- Support client-side HSE monitoring and assurance during construction
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the BEL HSE Management System
- Support contractor and consultant vetting, pre-qualification, selection, tendering and procurement processes
- Undertake site visits, reviews and audits
- Support incident reporting, investigation, action tracking and performance monitoring
- Administer and coordinate BEL HSE Committee meetings, reports, actions and follow-up
- Collaborate with Windward Energy Group HSE colleagues
- Promote a positive, practical HSE culture and develop HSE awareness and capability across BEL
- Provide hands-on project support, HSE system development, maintenance, assurance and continuous improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience supporting EHS activities within construction, energy, infrastructure or similar environments
- Sound working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations and Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor roles
- Ability to provide clear, proportionate and practical EHS advice to non-specialists
- Willingness to be visible on site and effective in developing systems and processes
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload across multiple projects and activities
- Competence in Microsoft packages, including Word and Excel
- NEBOSH Certificate
- Willingness to work towards Diploma level qualification
- Demonstrable construction EHS experience, ideally within energy, infrastructure or similar project-based environments
- Experience supporting projects through development and delivery activities is desirable
- Experience of contractor vetting, tender evaluation and procurement support is desirable
- Familiarity with EHS management systems and assurance frameworks is desirable
- Willingness to develop professional competence and take on increased responsibility over time
