About the role
- Lead the team of six Wikibase Cloud engineers, building features that support the product team and enable our communities to achieve their goals.
- Support engineers, product managers, community communication and partnership managers, researchers, and designers in delivering products and services used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
- Collaborate with other engineering managers and functional team leads on development, technical guidance, and engineering processes.
- Assess engineering workflows and recommend improvements to Engineering and Product Leadership.
- Mentor and support the engineering team to maintain high quality of work and life, build trust within engineering and product teams, and encourage adoption of new ideas.
- Help align development efforts with the organisation’s values and strategic goals.
- Represent team members within the organisation and to our communities.
- Coordinate with other Wikimedia Deutschland product teams and organisational departments.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an inclusive engineering leader within a collaborative, product-driven, agile software development environment.
- Experience in jointly managing and growing diverse and inclusive software development teams working in cross-functional settings with engineers, UX specialists, and product managers.
- Experience leading a hybrid/remote software engineering team.
- Track record of empowering team members and supporting the broader product team.
- Strong interpersonal and external communication, collaboration, and conflict-mitigation skills.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
