About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and manage the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) in accordance with CMS §483.80, CDC, and state guidelines.
  • Conduct ongoing infection surveillance, data collection, analysis, and trending of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain infection prevention policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor infection control processes throughout the facility, including hand hygiene, PPE utilization, isolation precautions, and environmental cleaning practices.
  • Lead outbreak investigations and response efforts, including coordination with public health agencies as needed.
  • Collaborate with the medical director, pharmacy consultant, and clinical team on antibiotic stewardship initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with employee health requirements, including immunizations, exposure follow-up, and return-to-work guidance.
  • Participate in audits, rounding, and performance improvement initiatives related to infection prevention.
  • Coordinate and provide clinical education and training for nursing staff, CNAs, and other care team members.
  • Support onboarding and orientation for new clinical employees.
  • Develop and maintain annual education plans and required regulatory training.
  • Conduct skills assessments and competency validations to ensure safe and effective resident care.
  • Identify educational opportunities based on quality data, survey findings, incident trends, and observed practice gaps.
  • Provide just-in-time coaching and mentoring to staff to support best practices and continued professional growth.
  • Assist leadership with policy education and implementation of new clinical workflows or regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, learning, and excellence in resident care.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota (or eligible for licensure).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience , preferably in long-term care, skilled nursing, or post-acute care .
  • Prior experience in infection control, staff development, education, or quality improvement preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, infection prevention standards, and long-term care operations .
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
