About the role

  • Design and deliver end-to-end backend features and subsystems with a focus on C# and .NET
  • Optimise service performance, scalability, and resilience, including query tuning, caching, threading and memory
  • Guide testing strategy across unit, integration, and service-level tests
  • Deliver and maintain robust application security
  • Lead the delivery of features or workstreams and help define requirements with clients
  • Conduct peer reviews, mentor others across the practice, and summarise discussions into clear actions for the team
  • Shape tactical direction, ensure robust security and performance, and champion best practices across the team

Requirements

  • Proven proficiency in C# and the .NET framework (or .NET Core) in a commercial environment
  • Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable and resilient backend systems
  • Demonstrable experience in a senior capacity, including leading workstreams and driving technical direction
  • Demonstrable experience with database technologies and optimising application performance (e.g., query tuning, caching)
  • Ability to confidently present demos to clients and stakeholders and explain technical trade-offs in plain language
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and modern CI/CD practices
  • Excellent organisational, presentation, and communication skills
  • Experience with peer reviews, mentoring and team development
  • Ability to optimise service performance, scalability, resilience, and application performance (threading, memory, caching)
  • Must be able to work in the UK without visa sponsorship (employer cannot provide sponsorship)
  • Must be able to work in the office at least 2 days per week (hybrid requirement)
