About the role
- Evaluate driving behaviors in simulation, closed course testing and public road operations and document findings thoroughly.
- Support the creation of comprehensive scenario sets used during development and as part of the safety case for driverless operation.
- Influence and help design highly automated, self-maintaining evaluation tools leveraging generative AI.
- Validate product and system requirements across all testing modalities and support tracing of requirements to tests and executions.
- Execute the review process for a driverless system: discover issues, report to appropriate owners, and coordinate resolutions through root cause analysis.
- Act as a liaison between Systems Engineering and autonomy software development teams to drive product and safety goals.
- Help drive Waabi's safety culture through application of safety standards and methodologies across supporting teams.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance behavioral evaluation capabilities, identify and apply lessons learned, and ensure accessible documentation.
- Work with external partners to gather data and information related to truck driving behaviors and support a strong safety case for the complete self-driving system.
Requirements
- Undergrad required; Undergrad or Masters in an engineering discipline preferred.
- 2+ years of automotive, robotics, aerospace or related industry experience.
- Experience with requirements and metrics for driving behavior evaluations.
- Experience with root causing complex systems in structured and unstructured testing.
- Experience with methods and standards such as STPA, SOTIF (ISO 21448) and/or UL 4600.
- Strong fundamentals in mathematics, engineering and physics.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts or data in a simple-yet-accurate manner.
- Excellent data analysis skills with modern tools such as Python or Matlab.

- Passionate about self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and creating innovative solutions.
- Bonus/Nice to have: Experience in launching a driverless product; Experience in the automotive self driving industry; Experience building software systems from scratch; Experience in robotics or machine learning; Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
