About the role
- Collaborate with cross functional teams (Maps, Data, Simulation) to curate and generate high-quality datasets for training and evaluating the online mapping system.
- Work closely with Perception and Motion Forecasting teams to design, evaluate, and iterate on robust online mapping algorithms that adapt to real-world changes (road closures, construction, traffic patterns).
- Partner with platform teams to ensure integration, deployment and continuous operation of the online mapping system within self-driving vehicles.
- Champion engineering excellence by writing high-quality, well structured and tested code.
- Contribute to research community by publishing findings at top conferences and sharing insights on Waabi’s blog.
Requirements
- MS/PhD or Bachelors degree with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning and/or similar technical field(s) of study.
- Experience working on applied research projects in ML/Autonomous driving.
- Passion for taking research ideas and turning them into practical solutions for real-world applications.
- Solid understanding of computing fundamentals, including code efficiency.
- Strong grasp of machine learning and computer vision literature, including current trends and state-of-the-art techniques.
- Proficient in Python programming with a focus on writing high-quality, well-structured, and tested code.
- Comfortable working with large datasets for machine learning applications.
- Open-minded and collaborative team player with the willingness to help others.
- Experience and excitement in supporting a fast-paced high-growth environment.
- Passionate about being part of an organization solving self-driving technologies.
- Bonus: Experience in shipping machine learning features/models into production.
- Bonus: Previous experience in perception and/or online mapping systems.
- Bonus: Previous experience in self-driving technology or related fields.
- Bonus: Publications in top-tier conferences or journals related to computer vision, machine learning, or robotics.
