About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for the management and growth of a Northern California Territory book of business
  • Analyze customers’ business information and claims history
  • Monitor clients’ activities to change policies as risks evolve
  • Evaluate acceptability of individual risks and determine overall acceptability of risk, coverage terms, and pricing
  • Work with agents/brokers to develop productive and profitable relationships while ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines
  • Handle new and renewal submissions and endorsement requests from agents/producers
  • Document underwriting files to support analysis, coverage terms, and pricing
  • Mentor & coach junior underwriters and underwriting support staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial underwriting
  • Knowledge of commercial lines underwriting standards and pricing methods
  • Knowledge of interpreting coverage forms
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • A valid driver’s license and carry vehicle insurance coverage
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
