About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Create and/or coordinate 3D model assemblies for pre-development concepts and powertrain systems with appropriate physical fidelity to perform and/or coordinate 3D fit and packaging analyses (Digital Mock-Up/package). Propose technical solutions or modifications to manufacturing/build teams using the results of virtual packaging studies;
Present and discuss concepts with relevant stakeholders. Propose technical solutions or design changes to manufacturing and development teams using virtual fit results, facilitating presentations and discussions across departments and technical forums (follow-up, technical scope and project scoping);
Perform comparative analysis (benchmarking) of vehicle characteristics during pre-development (power/torque, hill-start capability, energy consumption, range, etc.) and provide support to test/experimental teams;
Analyze and interpret technical specifications, 2D drawings and system layouts;
Manage and achieve competency improvement plans in specific areas within the VW Group;
Perform administrative activities involving coordination of partners in research cooperation projects;
Coordinate and actively participate in forecasting resources required to carry out research activities (prototype parts, demonstrator devices and/or vehicles), providing technical support for procurement of parts and services, etc.;
Prepare and deliver presentations (in English and Portuguese) for management and project teams, adapting language to the appropriate technical level for the audience.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related engineering fields;
Advanced/Fluent English is mandatory;
Interest in automotive concepts, combustion and hybrid powertrains;
Minimum 4 years of experience in vehicle powertrain systems or other vehicle-related areas;
Conceptual knowledge of automotive systems and vehicle integration/assembly;
Previous experience with virtual 3D development of systems and assemblies (CAD/CAE);
Knowledge of CATIA V5 and/or Creo Parametric for comprehensive 3D evaluation (Part design, Assembly, Digital Mock-Up) and Product Life-cycle Management tools (Teamcenter/VW Connect, VisMockup, etc.);
Ability to prepare and deliver presentations (using MS Office) in an orderly and logical manner, including in English;
Willingness to travel — domestic and international.
