About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own technical architecture and design decisions for the platform
Develop and maintain Magento 2 functionality, including custom modules, API integrations, admin workflows, and performance improvements
Integrate with and extend Python-based microservices when needed
Define and enforce technical standards, code review practices, and the team quality bar
Conduct code reviews focused on delivery quality
Support and mentor engineers on the team
Identify and resolve complex technical problems
Design and maintain integrations for Stripe, third-party medical and marketing systems, and internal microservices
Proactively identify reliability, performance, and developer-experience issues
Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps to clarify requirements, validate solutions, and ship smoothly
Communicate technical progress, risks, and decisions to the Team Lead and stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of overall software development experience
3+ years of hands-on Magento 2 experience
Proven experience in a technical leadership role
Strong experience with Magento 2 custom module development, API integrations, admin workflows, and performance considerations
Solid understanding of Magento 2 architecture, extension patterns, and scalability best practices
Strong proficiency in PHP 8+, MySQL, and JavaScript/ES6+
Working knowledge of Python
Proven experience with third-party integrations, including payment systems such as Stripe
Experience with Varnish, Redis, and CDN
Experience with cloud-based deployments and basic infrastructure concepts
Hands-on production experience
Product or service company background rather than pure outsourcing
Regular hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor
Strong ownership mindset
English level: Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher
Magento certification(s) are a bonus
AWS and cloud-based architecture experience is a bonus
Experience with microservices or service-oriented architecture is a bonus
Healthcare, telehealth, or regulated-domain experience is a strong plus but not required
Experience with subscription or recurring billing flows is a bonus
Prior experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineers is a bonus
