About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment such as kilns, conveyors, crushers, and pumps
  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and systems
  • Support CAD modeling, drafting, and documentation using tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Conduct research and analysis to support engineering decisions
  • Support reliability engineering initiatives including vibration analysis, lubrication programs, and failure root cause analysis
  • Participate in mechanical design and drafting using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Help develop and update preventive maintenance procedures and documentation
  • Contribute to plant improvement projects focused on safety, efficiency, and sustainability
  • Collaborate with operations, electrical, and instrumentation teams to support cross-functional projects
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and assist in preparing technical reports
  • Assist in the management of contractor/vendor services during plant shut down
  • Perform administrative tasks such as management of office supplies
  • Ensures the safety of themselves and all colleagues through enforcing safe work practices and providing motivation and effective communication

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program at a recognized Canadian institution
  • Completion of 1-2 years of study preferred
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial equipment
  • Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding industrial environment
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Safety-conscious with a willingness to learn and follow plant protocols
