Mechanical Engineering Co-Op

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment such as kilns, conveyors, crushers, and pumps
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and systems
- Support CAD modeling, drafting, and documentation using tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Conduct research and analysis to support engineering decisions
- Support reliability engineering initiatives including vibration analysis, lubrication programs, and failure root cause analysis
- Participate in mechanical design and drafting using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- Help develop and update preventive maintenance procedures and documentation
- Contribute to plant improvement projects focused on safety, efficiency, and sustainability
- Collaborate with operations, electrical, and instrumentation teams to support cross-functional projects
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and assist in preparing technical reports
- Assist in the management of contractor/vendor services during plant shut down
- Perform administrative tasks such as management of office supplies
- Ensures the safety of themselves and all colleagues through enforcing safe work practices and providing motivation and effective communication
Requirements
What you’ll need- Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program at a recognized Canadian institution
- Completion of 1-2 years of study preferred
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial equipment
- Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work in a physically demanding industrial environment
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Safety-conscious with a willingness to learn and follow plant protocols
