About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, implement, and maintain VMware Horizon VDI, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, server, SAN, and database environments
  • Prepare technical analyses, recommendations, project plans, and cost projections for network, server, and SAN projects
  • Define and allocate disk storage for file and database systems on servers and SANs
  • Train operational staff and automate routine operational and maintenance tasks
  • Develop, document, and enhance system administration procedures and technical documentation
  • Design and implement high-availability hardware and software systems
  • Analyze user requirements, developer needs, and technical constraints
  • Integrate new technologies into the existing data center environment
  • Establish Service Level Agreements and communicate with customers regarding technical issues
  • Mentor and guide other Systems Engineers
  • Assist with strategic plans for growth and resiliency and identify required resources
  • Verify datacenter hardware and system integrity and availability
  • Determine root causes, coordinate issue resolution, and escalate to management when necessary
  • Monitor systems, tune performance, and optimize resource utilization
  • Perform backup operations and manage backup media inventory, storage, and security
  • Perform operating system updates, patches, configuration changes, hardware and software upgrades, and migrations
  • Perform system installation, recovery, and decommissioning operations on a 24x7x365 basis
  • Provide technical expertise to Information Technology staff and interface with vendor technical representatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, mathematics, or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in systems or database administration
  • A comparable amount of education and experience may substitute for the minimum requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license
  • Skilled in VMware vSphere ESXi and VMware Horizon VDI design, implementation, and administration
  • Skilled in computer server environments, security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, maintenance, and automation
  • Skilled in evaluating and recommending computer hardware and software
  • Skilled in project planning, coordination, and scheduling
  • Skilled in system analysis and performance tuning
  • Skilled in administering physical and virtual Windows, Linux, or Solaris servers
  • Skilled in identifying and resolving complex server and SAN platform problems
  • Skilled in installing, migrating, and administering cloud-based computing systems
  • Skilled in PowerShell and VBScript
  • Skilled in Microsoft Active Directory administration
  • Knowledge of networking, Hyper-V, authentication methods, server hardware, operating systems, databases, SAN, vSAN, NAS, LANs, IP addressing, network protocols, and system security frameworks
  • Knowledge of GovQA, ERMS, TraCS, and OnBase
  • Knowledge of Florida Public Records law and report redaction, destruction, and intake processes
  • Must adhere to Federal, State, County, and Local ordinances
  • Must attend work regularly and consistently
  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions
  • Must be able to relocate to other county locations based on operational needs
  • Must remain available during public emergencies or disasters
  • Physical requirements include manual dexterity, independent ambulation, extended sitting or standing, extended computer use, occasional bending, squatting, reaching, grasping, and lifting up to 25 pounds
