Project Manager, Defense Industry – m/f/d

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Overall responsibility for development and series-production projects in the areas of guided weapons, warheads, and communications equipment (radio systems) with respect to cost, schedule, and quality
- Lead interdisciplinary project teams (systems engineering, propulsion, sensors, electronics, warhead, integration, production)
- Translate military customer requirements into technical specifications and project plans
- Requirements management through to serial release (Idea to Offer)
- Manage development, qualification, and acceptance testing (including firing trials, environmental, and stress tests)
- Budget planning, forecasting, and resource management
- Identify, assess, and manage technical and regulatory risks
- Coordinate subcontractors and international partners
- Ensure compliance with security, export control, and certification/approval requirements
- Contract, claims, and change management
- Reporting to executive management, customers, and authorities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a comparable field
- Several years of experience in project management of complex technical systems, ideally in the defense sector
- Knowledge of missile, warhead, or effect-system technology is an advantage
- Experience working with military specifications and regulatory requirements
- Strong project management knowledge (e.g., IPMA, PMI, PRINCE2 is beneficial)
- Fluent German and English (business/negotiation level)
- Willingness to travel and ability to undergo security clearance
