About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build and maintain automation tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to eliminate manual operational tasks and optimize deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with product and development teams to define, monitor and enforce Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for critical services.
  • Design and implement robust monitoring, alerting and logging systems to ensure deep visibility into application and infrastructure health.
  • Participate in on-call rotations providing operational support; lead and take part in blameless post-mortems to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Optimize GCP infrastructure for performance, cost and scalability, managing load balancing configurations, traffic routing and auto-scaling.
  • Support and improve continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure secure, predictable and frequent software releases.
  • Plan, implement and test disaster recovery (DR), failover and backup strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Review application architecture and code to ensure adherence to production readiness standards, security best practices and scalability guidelines.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Solid experience in SRE, DevOps or Cloud Systems Engineering roles (or equivalent education/experience).
  • Cloud Platform (GCP): Hands-on experience deploying and managing workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions and BigQuery.
  • Containers and Orchestration: Proficiency in managing, deploying and troubleshooting Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with tools like Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Linux/Unix Systems: Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix administration, networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S) and system internals.
  • Programming and Scripting: Proficiency in at least one automation-focused language (e.g., Python, Go or Bash).
  • Observability Stack: Experience with GCP Cloud Monitoring/Logging (Stackdriver) or equivalent open-source tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • CI/CD Tools: Experience with modern pipelines and version control (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or Google Cloud Build).
