About the role
- Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure cloud-native microservices in Kubernetes and AWS environments.
- Lead integration efforts for DP+, CDS Hooks, and backend services within the Health Service Mesh, ensuring interoperability with VA EHR systems (CPRS, Cerner Oracle, VistA).
- Set up, configure, and manage CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), automated deployments, and infrastructure as code.
- Monitor system performance, reliability, and security using observability tools (Prometheus, Dynatrace, ELK/EFK).
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, optimize runtime environments, and ensure compliance with federal security standards.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT), policy engine integrations, and secure service design.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and stakeholders to define integration requirements and technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, onboarding materials, and operational runbooks.
- Participate in architecture reviews, sprint ceremonies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support developer enablement through environment documentation, test projects, and technical guidance.
- Ensure data integrity, transformation, and secure handling for integrations with VistA and other clinical data sources.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, cloud infrastructure, and integration of enterprise systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, AWS, and cloud-native microservices.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipeline setup and management (Jenkins, Git).
- Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, and logging tools.
- Experience with authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth, JWT) and policy-based access control.
- Familiarity with healthcare standards (FHIR, RESTful APIs) and integration with EHR systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
