About the role

  • Support Data Migration & Syndication (DMS) effort within the Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO) for the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Implement data integration and exchange using FHIR, HL7, CSV, etc., and ingest into databases like MS SQL Server, Oracle, Mongo, Azure Databricks, Varigence BimlStudio, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Spark
  • Troubleshoot, monitor performance and manage security on Oracle Active Data Guard or other mirroring technology
  • Create data mappings (Oracle Health to CDW, VistA, Millennium or Cloud Database) and evaluate/integrate data from multiple sources using common healthcare standards (DICOM, HL7, SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, ICD9/10, CPT, USCDI)
  • Write SQL queries for customers and testing database effectiveness/performance
  • Develop and update Conceptual Data Models and create/enhance database architectures and high availability/DR architectures
  • Conform to security best practices and monitor applications/system logs to maintain high uptime
  • Create code/automation using Microsoft Visual Studio, SSIS, Varigence BimlStudio, ERWIN, Powershell, bash, and interpret Oracle Health’s data model and CCL for queries/reports
  • Create user and technical documentation and document weekly activities in Weekly Progress Report
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities to support team objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other Engineering or technical discipline plus 5+ years experience
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures and algorithm design, and complexity analysis
  • Experience translating design mockups and prototypes into working application designs using the full stack
  • Experience with Agile Frameworks, DevSecOps, CI/CD Pipelines, and Automated Testing
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment
  • Takes ownership of tasks and assignments to completion with the ability to delegate amongst a team effectively
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship due to clearance requirement
  • Ability to support customers during EST hours
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust
  • Knowledge of database architecture, administration, and security for on-premise and cloud-hosted database systems
  • Communicates and leads effectively in detailed technical discussions with the customer and among cross functional stakeholders
  • Active VA Public Trust (additional)
  • Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment (additional)
  • Experience in the VA or other federal organizations desired (additional)
  • Experience with Data Migration and Data Syndication within the VA desired (additional)
  • Ability to obtain a Government clearance (additional)
