About the role

  • We are seeking a Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Automation Engineer with deep expertise in Terraform, Microsoft Azure, and Databricks to design, automate, and evolve cloud infrastructure and data platforms.
  • This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, identity-driven provisioning, and data integration, and requires both hands-on execution and the ability to influence better technical approaches across the organization.
  • The ideal candidate brings strong engineering fundamentals, modern automation practices, and the flexibility to help shape how infrastructure and data platforms are provisioned, integrated, and delivered at scale.
  • This is a contract opportunity with one of Verinext's clients. Candidates must be comfortable working West Coast hours.

Requirements

  • Azure Cloud Engineering
  • - Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise-grade Azure infrastructure and services
  • - Implement and optimize Azure networking, security, identity, and governance components
  • - Partner with architecture and platform teams to improve cloud design patterns and operational models
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation (Terraform)
  • - Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for repeatable, scalable deployments
  • - Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent) to automate infrastructure provisioning and changes
  • - Introduce and evaluate alternative automation approaches to improve speed, reliability, and maintainability
  • Data Platform Integration (Databricks)
  • - Support provisioning and integration of Databricks environments within Azure
  • - Enable secure and reliable data movement in and out of Databricks
  • - Collaborate with data engineering teams to align infrastructure automation with analytics and data platform needs
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • - Support cloud provisioning workflows integrated with SailPoint, enabling identity-driven access and automation
  • - Track and report delivery progress and project work using Jira
  • - Participate in agile ceremonies, technical design reviews, and cross-team planning
  • - Document infrastructure standards, automation workflows, and best practices
  • Required Skills & Experience
  • - Senior-level experience with Terraform in production Azure environments
  • - Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including compute, networking, security, and identity
  • - Experience supporting or integrating Databricks within Azure-based platforms
  • - Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform deployments
  • - Experience working with Jira for project tracking and delivery reporting
  • - Ability to think beyond standard implementations and propose improved or alternative technical solutions
  • Nice-to-Have Skills
  • - Experience with SailPoint identity provisioning and access workflows
  • - Experience with Boomi for integration and data orchestration
  • - Exposure to JD Edwards (JDEdwards) environments or ERP integrations
  • - Familiarity with DevSecOps and cloud security automation practices
