About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide client-centered and culturally responsive therapy to couples and families across diverse relationship structures and life stages
- Engage all relevant family members/partners in treatment planning, goal-setting, and psychoeducation
- Conduct comprehensive relational and systemic assessments (e.g., family dynamics, communication patterns, attachment history) and create individualized treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions tailored to couples and family systems (e.g., EFT, Gottman Method, structural or systemic family therapy)
- Facilitate difficult conversations and conflict resolution while maintaining a safe, neutral therapeutic environment
- Respond to crises (e.g., domestic conflict, safety concerns, disclosures) with empathy, prioritizing safety and stabilization for all parties
- Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation for individual and joint sessions
- Collaborate with individual therapists, psychiatrists, and other providers involved in a client's or family's care to ensure coordinated treatment
- Participate in individual supervision, case consultation, and team collaboration
- Stay current with couples/family therapy best practices, continuing education, and regulatory requirements
- Support families and couples with resources and referrals to help them meet treatment goals
- Provide timely, sensitive communication with clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries around confidentiality in multi-client cases
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
- Independent licensure (or license eligible) in Massachusetts: LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, or equivalent
- Experience providing therapy to couples and/or families with a strong foundation in evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions
- Proficiency with EHR and clinical documentation
- Training or certification in couples/family-focused modalities (e.g.,Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), structural or systemic family therapy (preferred)
- Experience supporting couples and families through separation, divorce, reconciliation, or major relational transitions (preferred)
