About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and supervise field survey crews on boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys
Perform and verify survey computations, including traverse closures, level loops, and coordinate geometry
Operate and maintain total stations, GPS units, and data collectors
Document field notes, sketches, and digital data for project deliverables and potential legal claims
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including daily HSAP reviews and OSHA and company safety standards
Train and mentor junior crew members in field procedures and equipment use
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify requirements and resolve field issues
Monitor project budgets and timelines and apply cost control techniques
Maintain records of timekeeping, expenses, and equipment usage

Requirements

What you’ll need

Associate degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field
Higher education preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience in land surveying, including at least 1 year as a survey crew chief
Proficient in surveying instruments and software
Able to perform duties outdoors in all climates
Capable of working primarily outdoors and occasionally in an office
Able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally, sometimes over substantial distances
Must have a valid driver’s license
Drone license preferred
Demonstrated strong leadership skills
