About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and supervise field survey crews on boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys
  • Perform and verify survey computations, including traverse closures, level loops, and coordinate geometry
  • Operate and maintain total stations, GPS units, and data collectors
  • Document field notes, sketches, and digital data for project deliverables and potential legal claims
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including daily HSAP reviews and OSHA and company safety standards
  • Train and mentor junior crew members in field procedures and equipment use
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify requirements and resolve field issues
  • Monitor project budgets and timelines and apply cost control techniques
  • Maintain records of timekeeping, expenses, and equipment usage

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field
  • Higher education preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in land surveying, including at least 1 year as a survey crew chief
  • Proficient in surveying instruments and software
  • Able to perform duties outdoors in all climates
  • Capable of working primarily outdoors and occasionally in an office
  • Able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally, sometimes over substantial distances
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Drone license preferred
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
