About the role
- Designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and supporting secure, scalable, and robust data solutions.
- Collaborating on the development of data solutions.
- Developing basic to complex Python code & designs to maintain new and existing technology systems following company standards.
- Accountable to develop and deliver technical documentation.
- Undergoing peer code and design reviews to ensure stable and high-quality production-ready code.
- Building and maintaining data solutions that meet or exceed industry regulatory requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with established SDLC frameworks, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, release management, and deployment.
- Ensuring compliance with all the audit and security requirements of the company.
- Participating and following established Agile standards (including attending all Agile events) to create a collaborative and efficient development environment and meet project goals and delivery dates.
- Leading a team with meeting project commitments, such as project goals, objectives, and corresponding delivery dates.
- Providing engineering leadership and mentorship to junior level engineers.
- Fostering innovation to improve on existing challenges and to realize new opportunities.
- Collaborating with Architects to develop and review intended solutions.
- Traveling as needed to perform position responsibilities.
- Availability to be on-call as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, related technology field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven years professional work experience in software and data development required.
- Two years of experience performing as a subject matter expert.
- Prior experience writing Python code in Databricks.
- Experience with Azure data technologies.
- Proficiency of computer engineering fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Ability to modify existing code and write complex scripts according to standards and best practices.
- Comfortable with cloud environments and concepts: Azure & Snowflake
- Advanced understanding of data engineering concepts with knowledge in two or more modern programming languages and proficient with SQL.
- Comfortable with big data technologies like Spark or Snowflake and comfortable working in scalable environments.
- Advanced technical skills and knowledge in: data warehousing, databases, ETL/ELT, business intelligence, and data governance.
- Ability to review code for complex maintainability, coding standards and security issues.
