About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for all billable tasks: medical records, discovery, etc.
  • Drafts various legal documents for attorney review
  • Requests, follows-up on, and organizes medical record files
  • E-File documents within appropriate court filing systems (Kansas City)
  • Manages and organizes case files
  • Researches and analyzes case data
  • Drafts discovery
  • Communicates with outside counsel, physicians, court personnel and other experts
  • Bills time contemporaneously
  • Assists attorneys with case-related requests
  • Responds to record and legal documentation requests
  • Answers phone calls, takes messages or transfers calls to appropriate parties
  • Works with highly confidential information and always maintains utmost confidentiality
  • Acts in a stewardship capacity for MVP, works as a genuine, confident, functional member of the team, is hardworking with the ability to be innovative and firm focused in alignment with our core values
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2- or 4-year degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a paralegal role
  • Prior experience in the workers compensation practice area is preferred
  • Superb communication/customer service skills - both written and verbal
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
  • Ability to juggle multiple high priority tasks at a time
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Collaborative and thrives while working in a team atmosphere
