About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the first point of contact for patients within the Valley Health physicians’ network.
- Provide administrative support to the ambulatory care team through customer service, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
- Schedule outpatient appointments according to clinic scheduling guidelines.
- Offer alternate providers or locations when appropriate.
- Process urgent referral requests the same day and routine referral requests within 72 hours.
- Obtain prior approval or authorization as needed and communicate referral appointment instructions.
- Receive and greet patients courteously.
- Provide new patients with appropriate documents.
- Keep patients informed about care delays.
- Complete outpatient registration and accurately enter demographic and financial/insurance information into Epic.
- Capture data required for regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Collect and receipt payments; maintain and balance the cash drawer.
- Answer phones within three rings using the required greeting.
- Take accurate phone messages and prescription requests in Epic.
- Date stamp and route incoming patient information.
- Prepare patient correspondence and process medical record release requests.
- Receive, process and distribute incoming mail.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient health information.
- Provide cross-coverage at other locations when requested.
- Maintain office supplies, forms and filing systems.
- Open and/or close the clinic according to practice guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as requested or directed.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associates degree is preferred.
- (1) year of relevant work experience is required.
- Associate's degree may substitute for one year of relevant work experience.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Strong computer, customer service and communication skills required.
- Ability to prioritize work.
- Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations required.
- Interpersonal skills to work with diverse people within and outside organization required.
- Ability to work First Shift (United States of America).
