About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide individualized support across the care continuum to patients, families, and caregivers
  • Coordinate care from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up for oncology patients

  • Serve as clinical advocate, educator, and liaison for patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Provide culturally competent education on diagnosis, treatment, side effects, and posttreatment care
  • Facilitate communication between care teams and support participation in therapeutic clinical trials
  • Identify programmatic and quality initiatives with multidisciplinary teams and track care-pathway outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • 1 year of registered nursing experience required
  • 3 years of related and relevant registered nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS certification required
  • Specialty Board Certification strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage complex care and high-risk patient populations
  • Ability to triage referrals, assess patient needs, and develop care plans
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary care and expedite diagnostic testing, surgery, treatment, and follow-up
  • Culturally competent patient and caregiver education skills
  • Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to write legibly
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, frequently travel, and bend/stoop
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 20–50 lbs
  • May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases
