About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assess patients and develop, evaluate, and modify plans of care for patients receiving moderate sedation for surgical procedures
Prepare patients and procedure rooms for radiology procedures in compliance with policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations
Stock the nursing cart and prepare daily schedules and pre-op call templates
Perform morning, intra-day, and end-of-day narcotic counts; document used narcotics and return unused items to the lockbox
Check in patients, explain procedures, answer questions, and address concerns
Administer pre-, intra-, and post-operative medication and IV sedation
Monitor blood pressure, EKG rhythm, oxygen saturation, and airway status
Scan used items into the inventory management system
Transfer sedated patients to the holding area, attach monitoring equipment, take initial vitals, and complete transfer documentation
Oversee the crash cart, perform daily AED checks and expired-medication logs, and conduct monthly inventory checks
Train new Nurses and Medical Assistants as needed
Make post-operative patient calls and dictate notes in patient charts
Maintain HIPPA-compliant patient confidentiality

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduate of an accredited RN Program
Current State License
Current BLS certification
At least one (1) year of medical/surgical experience is preferred
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
Thorough knowledge of computer information systems
Ability to perform the physical demands of the essential functions, with reasonable accommodations available
