About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- This position provides technical writing support for research, industry collaboration, and commercialization activities in the area of engineering.
- The Technical Writer works closely with faculty members to develop high-quality grant applications, translate technical content into clear and compelling narratives, and identify funding opportunities aligned with the research program.
- The role also supports knowledge mobilization through the preparation of reports, proposals, and communication materials, and may contribute to developing and maintaining a research website to showcase projects, partnerships, and outcomes.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Communications, or a related field is required.
- Demonstrated experience in technical or grant writing is essential.
- Strong understanding of research funding mechanisms (e.g., NSERC, IRAP, Alberta Innovates) is preferred.
- The position requires excellent written communication skills, the ability to synthesize complex technical information, and familiarity with industry-focused research and collaboration environments.
- Experience with website content development and knowledge mobilization is considered an asset.
