About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deploy and integrate real systems - connecting PLCs, sensors, and data pipelines that help factories run more efficiently and reliably.
- Consult customers on how to generate business value, by designing use cases, implementing and capturing tangible value with them
- Shape the product from the field, feeding back real-world learnings to make UMH more scalable, robust, and developer-friendly.
- Debug, optimize, and automate data flows across MQTT, Kafka (Redpanda), Docker, Benthos, and Grafana - and document patterns others can build on.
- Work closely with the Product Engineering team to prototype new features, test deployments, and continuously improve the UMH stack.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Hands-on experience with OT or IT systems - PLCs, sensors, message brokers, containerized applications, or industrial protocols
- The ability to communicate clearly with customers, build trust quickly, and act as a reliable technical advisor
- You can translate messy customer problems into clean technical solutions
- You’re comfortable being the technical face of a product - part engineer, part consultant, part teacher - who thrives in high-velocity, high-accountability environments
- You have a strong bias for learning and self-reliance - you don’t need much structure, but you can build it when it’s missing.
- Fluency in German and English
