About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Draft various legal letters and court pleadings, ensuring clarity, accuracy and compliance
- Execute service and formal notification of legal documents and proceedings, in strict compliance with legal requirements
- Manage court filings, procedural protocols and judicial deadlines, ensuring strict adherence to timelines
- Monitor calendar reminders to support effective and proactive case planning
- Communicate regularly with court officials and other stakeholders, and diligently follow up on required actions
- Prepare litigation binders/case books, including collecting, organizing and updating exhibits and legal authorities
- Open and manage files, both paper and electronic, maintaining structured filing and rigorous tracking of case progress
- Enter data into various systems (billing, time entries, disbursements, etc.)
- Conduct conflict-of-interest searches when opening new files, in accordance with internal procedures
- Prepare and manage expense accounts with attention to detail and financial compliance
- Prepare and send invoices to clients, ensuring accuracy and transparency
- Provide general administrative and legal support to the litigation lawyers as required.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3 to 7 years' experience as a litigation legal assistant
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365
- Fluent French (spoken and written) and strong English skills
- Good knowledge and use of legal databases, including SOQUIJ, Land Register (Registre foncier), RDPRM and the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy
- Knowledge of legal rules and procedures applicable to litigation
- Excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism in interactions
- Strong organizational skills, excellent prioritization and ability to work under pressure
- Autonomous, resourceful and highly discreet
- Knowledge of Maître and iManage software (an asset).
