About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and build superconducting quantum computing systems
- Advance calibration, measurement, and control software for superconducting quantum computing systems
- Perform quantum processor benchmarking and error analysis to guide development
- Research scaling of control architectures, calibration, and quantum error correction
- Collaborate on full-stack integration and use of quantum computers at NQCC
- Perform collaborative R&D on enabling technology aligned to the technology roadmap
- Keep up to date with advances in the field
- Present and publish non-confidential results
- Develop scalable and robust quantum computing systems within the Superconducting Circuits Team in NQCC’s Research division
Requirements
What you’ll need- PhD or industry equivalent research on quantum computing systems, such as superconducting circuits, trapped ions, or neutral atoms, by direct or cloud-access
- Experience with calibration, benchmarking, and error analysis of quantum computing operations
- Experience simulating quantum system dynamics under control and noise
- Knowledge of error reduction strategies such as optimal control, error mitigation, and error correction
- Scientific programming skills for simulation, measurement, and data analysis
- Excellent technical communication across varied teams and disciplines
- Must meet CTC security clearance requirements
- Normally resident in the UK for the last 3 years for CTC clearance, although shorter residency may not bar vetting
- Must submit a CV and covering letter, maximum 2 pages each
- Applicants requiring sponsorship may be reviewed case by case
