About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate and analyse impact and outcomes information to generate new evidence of how UKRI environmental science makes a difference.
  • Present the evidence in clear, succinct and accessible formats tailored to the needs of key audiences including UKRI leadership, DSIT, and government and business partners.
  • Gather evidence for the team’s fortnightly communication of recent outcomes from UKRI environmental science by tracking news from research organisations that we fund and from companies that are building on NERC-funded research.
  • Support communication of outcomes evidence produced by the team, for example via the website and internal newsletters.
  • Respond to requests for impact evidence in a timely manner, exercising judgement to provide the most relevant evidence.
  • Manage the team’s shared mailbox, and maintain the team’s evidence database and internal SharePoint site.
  • Provide support to team members, and the directorate more widely, as required.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Understanding of the application of research to delivering economic growth and improving lives (S/I).
  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience relevant to the role (S).
  • Experience of investigative research, analysis and semi-structured interviews (S/I).
  • Strong ability to synthesise and summarise complex scientific / technical information in a clear and accessible form for non-expert audiences (S/I).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (S/I).
  • Quick learner, with strong motivation to learn new skills and techniques (I).
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently, while contributing effectively as part of a team (I).
  • Effective administration, prioritisation, time management and IT skills (S/I).
