About the role
- Scope technical tasks and develop creative solutions to assigned problems.
- Begin using systems and meeting requirements with minimal supervisory guidance.
- Accepts complex tasks and receives minimal guidance from senior professionals.
- Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide limited guidance and direction to less senior engineering professionals.
- Carry out development and qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other phases such as design and fabrication to better evaluate and minimize future problems.
- Develop alternate solutions to existing problems.
- Perform all detail work necessary to determine best solutions.
- Evaluate proposals and make recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks in area of assignment.
- May delegate portions of the detail work to less senior personnel.
- Prepare costs and schedule estimates on proposed projects/tasks in assigned area.
- Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Prepare manuals and other documents supporting or publicizing the technical effort.
- Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports and articles.
Requirements
- Education: In applicable science or engineering discipline entry level PhD degree, MS degree with 2-4 years experience; or BS and 5-10 years experience.
- Experience/Skills: Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques; has working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications
- Experience with computers and software to include: Word, Excel, Power Point, and other software and tools as needed.
- Experience with the design, procurement, fabrication and installation of Gloveboxes within the DOE Complex.
- Ability to analyze complex operations, identify solutions and implement/track projects to successful closure including good organizational skills.
- Proficiency, experience, and knowledge with procurement acquisition processes and project management.
- Ability to effectively work in partnership with peers, Design Authority Engineers, Procurement, Quality Assurance, Glovebox Manufacturers, and Test organizations.
