About the role
- Build relationships with customers, engaging via multiple channels including in-person, by appointment, and virtually to provide counsel
- Assess and attend to customers’ banking needs and obtain and process customer and account information
- Demonstrate and educate clients on available deposit and loan products and services and recommend solutions based on each customer’s goals and needs
- Proactively outreach and follow up with clients; ask questions and learn about financial needs and channel preferences
- Maintain working knowledge of consumer and business banking products and digital products and services
- Provide consistent optimal client experience, including greeting clients and processing basic transactions
- Develop collaborative partnerships with branch team members and partners to best serve clients
- Open new consumer and business accounts, complete service requests and submit credit applications
- Proactively educate clients on emerging and self-service digital products and services
- Leverage available resources and technologies to optimize the client experience and serve clients with operational excellence and accuracy
- Position requires NMLS registration and associated background/credit checks
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Client Relationship Consultant 1: typically 1–2 years of job-related, retail banking experience or a combination of experience and commensurate training
- Client Relationship Consultant 2: typically 3–4 years of job-related, retail banking experience or a combination of experience and commensurate training
- Client Relationship Consultant 3: typically 4–5 years of job-related, retail banking experience or a combination of experience and commensurate training
- Client Relationship Consultant 4: typically 5+ years of job-related, retail banking experience or a combination of experience and commensurate training
- National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration required under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z; subject to criminal background and credit check
- Knowledge of applicable bank and branch policies, procedures and support systems (basic to advanced depending on level)
- Thorough knowledge of retail products and services (required for higher levels)
- Experience with using and demonstrating digital products and self-service technologies
- Proven customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively engage and communicate with clients
- Ability to explore and identify a customer’s true needs and make appropriate recommendations
- Experience participating in sales campaigns/promotions (preferred for levels 3 and 4)
- Ability to comply with U.S. Bank policies and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct; eligibility checks including E-Verify where applicable
