About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The Technology Portfolio Manager is responsible for a combination of customer management, financial management, and technical experience contributing to the success of our FinOps practice.
  • This role will be responsible for partnering and consulting with Information Technology and Business Management partners on Cloud cost opportunities, planning, and implementation of FinOps principles with a focus on our data platform technologies.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of how business units leverage cloud and data platforms and detailed knowledge of current technology and infrastructure from a functional perspective.
  • Participate in budgeting for Data technology portfolios, ensuring accurate sequencing and financial tracking.
  • Oversee monthly forecasting, variance analysis, and opportunity recommendations to ensure delivery within approved budgets.
  • Manage vendor financials (SOWs, invoicing) and ensure compliance with financial controls and business case standards.
  • Prepare concise, outcome-focused updates and executive summaries for leadership, synthesizing delivery progress, risk posture, and financial health.
  • Build strong relationships across product, engineering, business, finance, and vendor teams. Promote a “one team” culture through regular stakeholder engagement and clear operating rhythms.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree with five to eight or more years of relevant experience
  • 7–10+ years in technology portfolio/program management, leading multi-team initiatives with significant budget responsibility
  • Basic understanding of FinOps principles and Data Platform technologies
  • Experience in financial planning & analysis for technology portfolios (annual plan, CapEx/Opex, forecasting, variance resolution)
  • Success in delivering complex initiatives with cross-functional coordination.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 and portfolio management tooling.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of producing executive-ready materials.
  • Foundational understanding of modern data platform technologies and architectures
  • Familiarity with data lakes, data warehouses, and analytical processing platforms
  • Awareness of data ingestion, transformation, and reporting workflows
  • Ability to partner with data engineering, platform, and analytics teams
  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and/or other data platform technologies
  • Experience managing costs within Azure and AWS cloud providers
  • Exposure to cloud financial management tools
  • FinOps Certification (FinOps.org)
