About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide legal support for U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance (IF) in key product areas – Affordable Housing, Community Finance Solutions, Environmental Finance, and Tax Credit Syndications
- Assist with federal and state tax credit syndications while ensuring compliance and delivering pragmatic guidance
- Build trusting relationships with clients and colleagues to facilitate informed decision-making
- Contribute to the excellence of the Law Division through collaboration and participation in the community
- Attract, retain, and develop an inclusive team environment where all contributions are valued
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed by and in good standing with the appropriate state bar association or other appropriate state attorney licensing authority
- At least 5-8 years of in-house, government or law firm experience in structuring tax credit investments utilizing historic rehabilitation tax credits (HTCs), low income housing tax credits (LIHTCs), new markets tax credits (NMTCs) and/or various state tax credit programs
- Experience documenting and negotiating tax credit investments, including upper tier tax credit syndications and tax credit clearinghouse documentation
- Demonstrated experience with, or potential to gain thorough and current knowledge of, state and federal tax credit laws and regulations
- Knowledge of, or potential to gain thorough and current knowledge of, regulatory environment applicable to community development finance activities of financial institutions
- Problem solver with a demonstrated commitment to client service and strength in working collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills and strategic thinker with ability to support process improvement
- Ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business guidance
- Diligent, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a desire to learn new skills and keep abreast of industry and regulatory developments
- Interest and curiosity with respect to the Bank’s business and operations
- Experience developing new products and services in a highly regulated environment
