Traffic Project Engineer
TYPSA USTraffic Project Engineer performing traffic analysis and developing design plans for traffic signals and ITS. Joining TYPSA, a multi-discipline engineering consulting firm based in the United States.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform traffic analysis, studies and preliminary engineering, transportation planning, and develop final design plans for traffic signals, ITS, lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic handling and construction sequencing
- Provide and/or take direction to/from staff
- Apply broad understanding of civil engineering and other fields to reach innovative and interdependent solutions
- Design of MOT, signing & marking, signals, lighting, ITS and all related documentation necessary for construction of plans
- Conduct traffic analysis, safety audits, traffic impact studies, traffic signal timing, traffic signal design and calculations forming the basis of design recommendations
- Generate clear and concise technical reports summarizing analysis findings, description of the issues, and recommendations with supporting rationale
- Read and interpret engineering plans, specifications and reports
- Prepares and checks plans, calculations, cost estimates and recommendations
- Experience speaking to the public and interacting with local and state agencies is preferred.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or a related field
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of design experience
- P.E. Registration required in the jurisdiction of the position or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Other certifications are a plus but not required, including California T.E. and/or PTOE certification
- Local State and Municipality experience
- Proven knowledge and skills in both MicroStation and AutoCAD
- Preferred candidates will have skills using traffic modeling software: Synchro, HCS, Vissim and AGI32 (lighting)
- Knowledge of roadway modeling software a plus: Civil 3D and OpenRoads
- Marketing experience is a plus.
