About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform traffic analysis, studies and preliminary engineering, transportation planning, and develop final design plans for traffic signals, ITS, lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic handling and construction sequencing
  • Provide and/or take direction to/from staff
  • Apply broad understanding of civil engineering and other fields to reach innovative and interdependent solutions
  • Design of MOT, signing & marking, signals, lighting, ITS and all related documentation necessary for construction of plans
  • Conduct traffic analysis, safety audits, traffic impact studies, traffic signal timing, traffic signal design and calculations forming the basis of design recommendations
  • Generate clear and concise technical reports summarizing analysis findings, description of the issues, and recommendations with supporting rationale
  • Read and interpret engineering plans, specifications and reports
  • Prepares and checks plans, calculations, cost estimates and recommendations
  • Experience speaking to the public and interacting with local and state agencies is preferred.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or a related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of design experience
  • P.E. Registration required in the jurisdiction of the position or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Other certifications are a plus but not required, including California T.E. and/or PTOE certification
  • Local State and Municipality experience
  • Proven knowledge and skills in both MicroStation and AutoCAD
  • Preferred candidates will have skills using traffic modeling software: Synchro, HCS, Vissim and AGI32 (lighting)
  • Knowledge of roadway modeling software a plus: Civil 3D and OpenRoads
  • Marketing experience is a plus.
