About the role

  • Turner & Townsend are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Engineer to join our data center team.\n
  • This role involves managing and analyzing costs for data center construction projects, ensuring financial efficiency and accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.\n
  • We are ideally looking for a local candidate. However, we will consider remote candidates who bring exceptional experience and qualifications to the role.\n
  • Responsibilities: Develop and maintain detailed project budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and services.\n
  • Perform comprehensive cost analysis and forecasting to ensure projects stay within budget.\n
  • Identify potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.\n
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports and progress updates to project managers and stakeholders.\n
  • Collaborate with project teams, procurement, and contract management to ensure cost control and planning advice.\n
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in project design and execution.\n
  • Engage and manage third-party quantity surveyors and validate construction cost estimates.\n
  • Update and maintain a repository for historical cost data to inform future projects.\n
  • Define and track cost performance metrics, leading monthly cost reporting and analysis.\n
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cost engineering, with a focus on data center construction.\n
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.\n
  • Strong analytical skills, proficiency in cost estimation software, excellent communication and presentation abilities, and a solid understanding of financial forecasting and cost accounting principles.\n
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to thrive in a client-facing role.\n
  • Good organization skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and be a team player.\n
