About the role
- Create, duplicate, and reengineer basic to complex electrical schematic and layout drawings and drawing packets of industrial control panels and associated equipment for automation and drive systems.
- Design systems from performance related specifications and/or concepts.
- Participate with other engineers in some, or all of the following project development phases:
- Design, specify, and supervise fabrication and assembly of designed systems and subsystems.
- Create project specifications for projects that summarize and detail customer requirements.
- Interface with customers, project managers, systems engineers, fabrication technicians, and sales professionals for successful completion of the project.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, technical competence, and outstanding safety performance.
- Create electrical assemblies, schematics, layouts, bills of materials (BOM’s), conduit and cable schedules, and system documentation using AutoCAD Electrical. Create assembly and schematic drawings per company and customer specifications.
- Use Autodesk Vault to maintain all engineering documents.
- Provide recommendations for electrical specifications on components to be implemented in the assemblies.
- Conduct design reviews with engineering team to obtain design improvements, quality improvements, cost savings, and/or assembly improvements.
- Examine existing, including possibly damaged, components and equipment for accuracy, improvement, reproduction and/or replacement including but not limited to general precisions measurements, operation or function of item, and other design notes/considerations.
- Maintain working drawing sets with approved revisions and “as-built” changes.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for project related materials.
- Provide design support to production during the fabrication phase of parts and electrical systems.
Requirements
- Associates Degree or higher in an appropriate field of study.
- 2+ years of equivalent experience working with industrial automation control system design
- Strong preference will be shown to candidates having additional experience with any of the following:
- AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault
- NEC 2017 or UL Electrical Standards
- PLC, VFD, or MCC system design and specification
