About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides support in resolving technical issues for Truist's Mainframe applications.
  • Performs problem tracking, diagnosis and root-cause analysis, replication, troubleshooting, and resolution.
  • Responds to issues in a timely manner by receiving and investigating incidents or service tickets.
  • May analyze trends with technical issues and provide input to developing short- or long-term improvements.
  • Documents all relevant end-user interactions and steps taken to resolve incidents.
  • May have occasional contact with end-users.
  • Works within standard guidelines and a high degree of supervision in order to gain practical skills.
  • Analyzes basic information and makes decisions within guidelines to solve problems.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Understanding of application development and/or support and coding
  • Foundational knowledge of business concepts and terms
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing basic information about application release and deployment
  • Basic knowledge of COBOL, JCL, and z/OS
  • Familiarity with TSO/ISPF and mainframe batch processing concepts
  • Exposure to DB2, IMS, or VSAM data structures
  • Awareness of AI tools for code analysis, documentation, and automation
  • Basic scripting skills (Python, Shell, or PowerShell) for process automation
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps)
  • Understanding of API integration (REST services, z/OS Connect) and hybrid architectures
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and data analysis concepts
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
