About the role
- Manage and monitor all USPTO and foreign prosecution deadlines, ensuring no critical dates are missed
- Analyze incoming correspondence, office actions, notices, etc., to identify required actions and deadlines
- Maintain and update docketing databases; generate and review reports for accuracy
- Prioritize and juggle multiple prosecution projects simultaneously, ensuring consistent progress on each
- Draft and edit reports, filings, and correspondence under attorney supervision
- Collaborate closely with attorneys, foreign counsel, and support staff to maintain prosecution workflows
Requirements
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in IP docketing and patent prosecution; law firm experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of the patent prosecution life cycle (US and ideally foreign)
- High attention to detail; excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to produce clear, well-edited documents
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work well in a team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with docketing or IP database software
- Must reside in Texas
- Nice to Haves: Formal technical training (e.g. in engineering, science, or technology)
- Nice to Haves: Prior exposure to foreign filings and dealings with foreign IP counsel
- Nice to Haves: Experience with specific docketing tools/software used in IP law firms
