About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee all facility management activities, ensuring the site remains safe, compliant, and operationally efficient.
- Lead the shift from reactive maintenance to a structured preventative maintenance programme, improving reliability and minimising unplanned downtime.
- Provide hands-on support to the maintenance team when required, assisting with troubleshooting and job completion.
- Ensure reactive, preventative, and proactive maintenance is carried out to optimise equipment performance and availability.
- Support the preparation and management of the capital budget, ensuring effective planning, execution, and cost control.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives across maintenance and facility operations.
- Coordinate and manage contractors for both maintenance and facility-related activities, ensuring compliance, quality, and safe working practices.
- Maintain and develop safe facilities, promoting an injury-free environment with strong employee engagement in line with ISO 45001.
- Ensure environmental compliance for all maintenance and project activities in accordance with ISO 14001.
- Establish, maintain, and audit maintenance routines within a quality framework aligned to internationally recognised standards.
- Recruit, train, develop, and motivate a high-performing maintenance team.
- Manage contractor selection, contract placement, and ongoing performance control.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience in a maintenance or facility management leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in implementing preventative maintenance and reducing equipment downtime.
- A hands-on leadership style, with the ability to support the team physically when needed.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data, systems, and processes to inform decisions.
- Experience in people management with a proactive approach to change and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging situations with clarity and composure.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, resilience, and structured problem-solving capability.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and delegate effectively.
