About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The Weld Specialist will be responsible for developing, documenting, and monitoring welding processes for components in our manufacturing facility
  • This includes GTAW of aluminum, stainless steel, and Inconel alloys as well as silver braze repair (torch)
  • The Weld Specialist will work with Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams, as well as workers on the manufacturing floor, to troubleshoot and improve welding processes
  • This role will focus on increasing the consistency and yield of welding by studying processes and products before, during, and after welding
  • This role will also be involved in some metallurgical work, including identifying samples for on-site lab review to resolve potential issues related to porosity, lack of penetration, melt thru, undercut, etc. and improving our ability to weld repair (over braze alloy) and increasing the strength of our products
  • Develop and document weld processes, including root cause analysis of deviations from critical process specifications to resolve weld-related issues
  • Educate and train workers on proper procedures and processes, including creating and updating work instructions and training materials
  • Monitor welding performance (rework/yield) to ensure targets are met
  • Use established process management tools, control plans, and CPK monitoring to improve process outcomes
  • Develop best practices for production quality, reliability, and capacity
  • Create and implement improved preventative maintenance programs to enhance current processes
  • Support welding processes to maintain NADCAP certifications
