About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Inspect heavy highway, bridge, and road projects
Ensure contractors comply with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations
Observe work in progress and inspect paving, drainage, and structural elements
Conduct daily site inspections and material testing
Prepare daily inspection reports and maintain logs of materials, workforce, equipment, and project progress
Monitor work zones for safety measures, MPT compliance, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements
Identify unsafe conditions and enforce erosion-control regulations
Assist Resident Engineers with submittals, pay-item tracking, and monthly estimates of completed work

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience in heavy highway construction
NICET III and above certification
ACI Field Grade I certification
NJSAT certification
Rutgers TCC certification
Ability to read complex blueprints
Familiarity with agency electronic record systems, including Site Manager and CapEx
Familiarity with New Jersey Department of Transportation or New Jersey Turnpike Authority standards
Reliable personal vehicle for travel to and from job sites
Strong written communication and technical writing skills
Excellent computer skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook
