About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Inspect heavy highway, bridge, and road projects to ensure contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations
- Observe paving, drainage, and structural work in progress
- Conduct daily site inspections and material testing
- Prepare daily inspection reports and maintain logs of materials, workforce, equipment, and project progress
- Monitor work zones for safety measures, MPT compliance, OSHA compliance, and environmental regulations
- Identify unsafe conditions and enforce erosion-control requirements
- Assist Resident Engineers with submittals, pay-item tracking, and monthly estimates of completed work
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in Heavy Highway construction
- NICET III and above certification
- ACI Field Grade I certification
- NJSAT (New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technologists) certification
- Rutgers TCC (Traffic Control Coordinator) certification
- Ability to read complex blueprints
- Strong written communication and technical writing skills
- Familiarity with agency electronic record systems, including Site Manager and CapEx
- Familiarity with New Jersey Department of Transportation or New Jersey Turnpike Authority standards
- Reliable personal vehicle for travel to and from job sites
- Excellent computer skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook
