About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage bridge projects for VTrans, Vermont municipalities, and other public sector clients from project initiation through design and construction phases
- Serve as the primary project manager for bridge rehabilitation, replacement, and transportation infrastructure projects
- Coordinate closely with highway and traffic design leads to deliver integrated transportation solutions
- Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and resource allocation
- Ensure projects adhere to internal and client-specific QA/QC standards and procedures
- Provide technical leadership in bridge design, structural analysis, and constructability reviews
- Maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts for Vermont transportation projects
- Collaborate with regional teams across New England to support project delivery and worksharing opportunities
- Assist in positioning the firm for future VTrans on-call contracts and strategic bridge pursuits
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine, or ability to obtain
- 15+ years of progressive bridge design experience, preferably with Vermont bridge projects (New Hampshire or Maine experience will also be considered)
- Strong experience managing bridge projects for state DOTs and municipal clients
- Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
- Experience with bridge design software including MathCAD, LEAP Steel/Concrete, Midas Civil, BrR, and MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple schedules, stakeholders, and delivery phases
- Strong leadership, communication, and client management skills
- Ability to travel approximately 5–10% throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine
